Financial Adviser Disclosure Statement
Anchorage Insurance Brokers Ltd

To enable greater protection for consumers a new system regulating NZ’s financial advisers and providers came into force on 1 July 2011. The rules and regulations have been designed to increase professional standards throughout the industry.

Anchorage is registered as a Financial Service Provider (registration number FSP38665) in compliance with the Financial Service Providers (Registration and Dispute Resolution) Act 2008.

Also, a new act (Financial Advisers Act 2008) requires that all financial advisers including fire & general insurance brokers must meet certain criteria including:

·         Being individually registered to provide financial advice on the Financial Service Providers Register (FSPR);

·         Exercising due care , diligence and skill when providing financial advice.

So, from a client’s perspective, this will mean:

·         Improved protection;

·         The ability to check whether an adviser has the appropriate qualifications/registration by logging onto www.business.govt.nz/fsp ;

·         The right to go to an independent dispute resolution provider if any problems can’t be resolved.

Finally, if you have any concerns or complaints about our service, we suggest in the first instance you talk to your broker or a director of Anchorage.

Like every other market, insurance keeps evolving and what was impossible to insure yesterday might become possible today.
